In our experience, successful community projects come from collaborative efforts. For this reason, we require that candidate projects be submitted by a grassroots volunteer organization, rather than by an individual (or a consulting firm). Please tell us about your group. Who are you? Why did you get organized? How long have you been around? How many members?
In a nutshell, tell us what you think is wrong. Describe what it is that you're trying to solve.
What kinds of things make your problem a "real" problem? Is movement by pedestrians or cyclists blocked or hampered by the "problem" you are identifying? Are unique traffic problems? Any land uses that are unusual? Special populations (e.g. disabled folks or underserved groups) that you're trying to help? Does the "problem" confound access to a school, to health or family services, or to healthy food?
Have you gathered any data on, for example, times of day when the problem is most troublesome? Have there been any traffic counts, crash studies, speed studies, or any other kinds of data gathered? Does local government have any reports that deal with your problem, and do they have any plans to solve it?
While we don't expect you to have all of the answers, you probably have some ideas about how this problem should be solved. What kinds of things do you believe will help? And, more to the point, WHY do you think your solutions would help?
Please only submit your form once.
